Jo & Matt Wedding at Andaz London Liverpool Street

This wonderful couple approached me to decorate and deliver a ‘contemporary boujee white wedding’. After a few meet ups and brainstorms we were on our way...

I was asked to decorate the day and create all the florals and props as well as manage, coordinate and MC the flow of the wedding on the actual day.

As the majority of their budget was spent on spectacular entertainment, I was assigned a limited budget for florals and decorations and was as resourceful as possible, every step of the way.

With the hands of just myself and one single assistant, we created 16 floral centerpieces, a huge, intricate ceremony backdrop and three decorative installations around the ballroom. All decorations were created using up cycled and painted plinths and frames embellished with white and ivory blooms of all different species. This certainly ticked the ‘Dramatic backdrop’ box and we planned ahead that all the decorations used in the ceremony will be repurposed throughout the day. The aisle was lined with hand created floral displays on varying height plinths that framed the beautiful bride as she walked the aisle. 

As soon as the ceremony was clear, we ‘flipped’ the ballroom for the wedding breakfast, repurposing every single decoration to embellish the beautiful 6ft round tables and create a dramatic framework for the dessert area and champagne tower. The Aisle florals now became bold, table centerpieces adding additional height and texture to the ballroom. 

While juggling and repurposing the entirety of decorations, I calmly and clearly coordinated the flow of the wedding day, regularly making announcements to the 170 guests and making  certain that the newlyweds were relaxed and clear of the order of the day and where they were expected next. They were in Autopilot mode knowing that everything was taken care of....

My silver service restaurant manager skills were utilised and I overlooked the progression of the food and beverage service in the back of house, ensuring top standards were executed and timings were adhered to. 

I consider myself a ‘plate spinner’ when it comes to wedding day preparation and execution. I am creative, confident and knowledgeable in all facets of the wedding industry which are combined to create the perfect day.
